This dwelling was about 1.5 miles
west of the John Eby house. The
building was called the mud house
because of it’s construction. It was
built with logs and stucco. Jacob Eby
and his wife Magdalena (Briner)

lived here for two years before his
death. She was famous for her
hooked rug designs. A painting of her
“Great- Granddaughter’s Rug” hangs
on the exterior wall of the Wildfire
Equipment & Maintenance building
at the Tuscarora State Forest Office.
