Newport High School Quilt 2
990 Hunters Valley Road, Newport PA
(Rt 34, 6 miles northeast of Newport)
The center design represents a wagon wheel that helped to transport settlers to the
area. The interior border within the wagon wheel denotes the conal, which is well
known in the Newport area. The exterior border is a Seminole Patchwork (see above 1)
design symbolizing locol Notive Americon Indions. As with most quilting designs, the need for bright, vibrant colors is evident. Specifically, red was chosen to remember
the Newport brick factory, as well as many brick homes throughout the town.
